Field Trip to Christkindlmarket in Chicago
Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014
Meet at Union Station 1:30 PM in the Main Hall (or the Daley Plaza)
Hi Ivy Students,
This Saturday Kelly’s class will be meeting in Chicago to check out the Christkindlmarket. You are welcome to join.
There is a scavenger hunt prepared by Kelly, which is an assignment to help the students to practice their English and learn of other cultures in the U.S. You can pick up a copy the scavenger hunt in the Ivy Office.
Some of the questions are:
What is the most popular selling ornament at the Christkindlmarket?
“Silent Night” is also a German song. What is its name in German?
What date is Saint Nikolas Day? Where does he leave treats for the children?
Daley Plaza is the home of the Christkindlmarket. Who is Daley Plaza named after?
Please note that the 2014 Lights Festival will be taking place on November 22, 2014 on Michigan Avenue (also called Magnificent Mile). The tree lighting parade will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Oak Street and continue south to Wacker Drive.
