The following table is a summary of the description of programs that Ivy offers as of summer 2016.

Basic Stage ESL

Admission to ESL program

288 clock hours (16 weeks).

Improve the English proficiency of students to meet their academic, personal and/or professional goals. 

Intermediate Stage ESL

Finishing Basic Stage ESL or EPT 33 or above

288 clock hours (16 weeks).

Improve the English proficiency of students to meet their academic, personal and/or professional goals. 

Advanced Stage ESL

Finishing Intermediate Stage ESL or EPT 46 or above

288 clock hours (16 weeks).

Improve the English proficiency of students to meet their academic, personal and/or professional goals. 

Business English and Business Administration

(BEBA)

Finishing Advanced Stage ESL or EPT 50 or above

576 clock hours (32 weeks).

Prepare students to apply basic business principles in various occupational settings where English is the major means of communication.  Improve English communication skills needed to succeed in their career. 

TESOL/TEFL

Finishing Advanced Stage ESL or EPT 55 or above

576 clock hours (32 weeks).

Prepare students (who are non-native English speakers) to teach English as a Second Language (ESL) or English as a Foreign Language (EFL) abroad (outside the U.S.). 

ESL and College Prep

   

EPT 50 or above

576 clock hours (32 weeks).

Prepare students for successful academic studies in U.S. colleges and universities.

 

 

 

 

Ivy uses the CaMLA English Placement Test (EPT) to place students into one of Ivy’s programs. Ivy also considers the student’s academic/personal goals in addition to test scores when deciding on placement.

 

Any class may be canceled or modified if insufficient students are enrolled; All programs may not be offered.
